Today the candlesticks broke, the ugly ones I know you would hate.
This was sad for me.
I got carried away cleaning.
They sat on the book shelf, next to a frame I was dusting.
And boom.
They fell and are no more.
One day we will have to replace them.
This small tragedy may have saved us one less disagreement of differing tastes.

Its Monday. My day off! I like to do everything backwards and live a day of no obligation, nor carry a to do list. I swear these kind of days keep me sane and healthy and happy.

Promise me that when we have days off together we will take a day off from the gym, sleep in terribly late, make breakfast in our pj's... Visit the park, soaking the sun on our favorite tattered blanket.
Wash our cars or work on our house, eat what ever we want... and have conversation we wouldn't miss for the world.
If we were to meet today, you might wonder about my fashion sense, no make-up, no rules- Monday.

Each night I slip into slumber to the 'who-wh-whoo...' outside my bedroom window. There is a very large owl that rests on the big tree across the street. My head, next to the window, which faces this creature has become my lullaby without fail. I find owl still sitting on the same branch as the night before when I go to leave for work each morning. I have grown to love this noise, as it has become a soothing bedtime ritual. Pretty soon I will be able to speak owl....I am going to catch a photo someday. I will post it, but until then... What do you fall asleep to?

I am just so happy. Perhaps its that spring has sprung. I love the warm weather and longer days. I ran at the marina today and it was a party... so many people. I saw mothers behind strollers, older men fishing with their grandsons, teenage girls in line to buy snowcones. The water... the sun... my tunes... my fave nikes. I soaked it all in. perfection!
Also, I love my career! I havent hardly dabbled into what I hope my future brings me.. But I feel rewarded EVERY single day. Its not just doing hair... its a passion for the industry, always learning, always changing, perfecting skills, its current and its exciting. The systems work, Im great at what I do:) Its a love for my clients, making a difference in someones life-- turning a cruddy day into a great one-- In short, the small things add up!! Its hard work and there are overwhelming days... though things arn't perfect nor do I want to settle. I know I am exactly where I need to be because I wake up everyday and live raw fun, it never feels like 'work'. Honestly I am greatful I have a job. I know I have help every step of the way from my Heavenly Father and dont doubt for a minute that he isnt watching over me, cheering me on. Im content and comfortable.
I adore my family!
I feel and see so much good... success, gratitude, love, hope, and guidance more than ever!! And to me, this is happiness.

the new j.crew catalog came in the mail two days ago.

i just barely had a minuet to crack it open.
i about died when i saw this necklace. then i got sad because its not sold at j.crew and its totally out of my price range.

though i am doubtful, it would be an awesome challenge to try and make one??i tore the page out and tacked it on my vision board

Strange feelin'

Okay...well....it would have been my anniversary today. My ex and I had been together 4 years.. dated for ages. marriage. moved. moved again. figuring out life. growing up. lot’s of change. huge struggle. Sometimes the lord has a different plan for you, ya know.

At any rate, I still celebrate this day for time is the greatest healer.
I celebrate for he is where he should be and I am where I should be.
And THAT is grand.
So I say, "Happy Anniversary, Ryan, may you and your future be well"

On Saturday I went to watch my little sister cheer for her varsity basketball team. They did fabulous this year and went to state and took it!! {Sparks High has not won state for over 55 years} The game was intense..

Tied--went into overtime and Sparks won State!

Later that night they went to Carson for a cheer competition and got first place in two out of three areas.

She came home estatic and exahuasted. I was happy, Sparks used to be my territory also, sense they dropped to 3A they needed that. Good for them.

A pink-heel-teary-kind-of-day

Do you ever have a day where things in life catch up with you? Not even unfortunate things or challenges, but the great things.... like your past, where your going and hard work. Well these THINGS in my life have surfaced today. I had a busy- ordinary day- I got home kicked off my **pink high heels that I actually wore. collapsed on my bed and while staring into no where I got this overwhelming feeling. Like a happy/grateful, yet anxious/wonder type feeling and then I cried. Let it all out and then that was it. Ever do that??

I am sometimes emotional for no reason at all... But the truth is I am glad I have a girly-cry-spell every once and a while. It keeps me on track, makes me better and pushes me outside of my box and that's a good thing.

Needless to say I fixed my eyes with a little shimmer-- went to see 'DEAR JOHN' {so good} by myself in the theater for the second time in my whole life and I enjoyed every second of Channing Tatum and my Friday night.

**I bought these shoes a long time ago. I attempt often to wear them, after roaming around the house- eating breakfast in them. I always cave and assume that they will be too much for a long day on my feet! They are the heels that are borderline owie. I decided to be brave and I made it through the day and they didn't even hurt {until I took them off}

Husband-to-be,

It is Thursday and sunny out. As I woke up early today, you were my first thought!

Its also January and I am working ever so hard to be on my best- the many resolutions I have for this year... and guess what??
The best thing about these new-year-goals-of-mine is that they just might help me in my ever so long journey to finding YOU!

So before I continue you must know the sucker for romance that I am... I know, I know its ridiculous. But I just cant help myself.

I have two recurring fantasies for when we become us.

The first one involves our kitchen... I hope to walk in the door after a long day- slip off my hi heels and into my cozy slipperiest socks for a dinner making date with you.

The stereo must be on.

Did you know that Kitchens were invented for dancing?? At least ours will be and that's why I will need slippery socks. we'll have great time unleashing the inner eight year old's within us.. as we cook.

The second is this.
I imagine it will happen on a porch. In fact, not even mine- or yours- maybe one we stumble across during a springtime walk, or one from a house we fall in love with in a cute town we are visiting. And it's there. On the bottom steps.. sitting next to me, that you will turn and ask me to be your best friend, your lover, your absolute equal.

My only request is this...please don't take me to the opera. I'm not really amused by fancy-too-planned-out-events either. Its usually the smaller, much sweeter times in life that get me. Honestly I'm not sure I even need you to get on one knee! But please ask my father for his permission. I was raised by the old fashioned.

So last night Kim and I went to Shelly and Kevin's to see baby.
I fell even more in love with her.. {if that's even possible} She was wide awake! Hallie lifts her eyebrows and incidentally makes herself look like an old man!! I am amazed by her cuteness. Its fun to watch Shelly interact with her.

I sometimes catch a glimpse of what it will feel like to have my own little monkeys someday. The amount of love and devotion you develop for this tiny person you've created?? It blows my mind.

I feel the spirit so strong today. I am overwhelmed at the peace and solitude that comes from striving to live a perfect plan of salvation. I am indebted to my loving Heavenly Father who listens to and answers my prayers, who sincerely cares for my every need and righteous desire. I recognize his hand daily in my life.
Our savior Jesus Christ lives! I love that he refines me into my best self. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of repentance. Greatful for the oportunity I have to become like him, so pure and so perfect--He can heal us in all things, big or small.. At times, I struggle to rely on him and trust him completely. But I am quickly reminded of his nobel ability to increase my capacity to learn, also to improve personally and spiritually through study and prayer and simply by doing whats right. I pray for the continued love and support I feel EVERY day as I preparing for what is to come while on this earth and through out eternity. We live in a today-tomorrow world and I want to pattern my life in terms of forever. Just as he views you and I. I think it will take a long time to get there but it sure will be worth it.

I dreamt of you last night. it hurt to wake up and know you were gone.
Sometimes my emotions get the best of me.
-In the future-
I might be moody some days--and you'll have no idea what i'm thinking or feeling. but i'll work on this. and just know its me, not you!

I also know that my eyes may occasionally get leaky when i tell you i love you, and that's a good thing.
I'll dance around the house in just my socks and underwear. a lot. you will be welcome to join me. lol
or more often than not you will find me in the kitchen early making pancakes by scratch {grandma freemans recipe of course} wearing one of your over sized t-shirts from your college years, the one that is just one wash away from disintegration.

i'll always want to play in the snow. snow fights. snow angels. i'll want to wake up in the middle of the night--the silent night--when the snow is untouched. to pretend that we--just the two of us--make up the whole of the world out in the freezing cold.

I wonder where we will end up... in many years from now...
we'll ride our bikes and make friends with the neighbors. the kids will play soccer and sign up for little league. and they will be safe. the schools will be good. we will find this great place for our family to grow strong.
Maybe we'll live in Europe. for a time. on a cobble stone street amidst a thousand years of history. and we'll make our own history. and we'll make our own roots {?}
and we'll go skiing and always make time for the other's in-laws. and we'll exchange homemade gifts and start silly traditions.
and if you'd let me I'd marry you in the rain. just so long as i could see your eyes.

Perfectionist should have been my middle name. though i am far far from perfection, i hope you will embrace this ocd problem of mine. please don't be bugged by the many to do lists laying around, or by our clothes folded in a certain way, or my need for a plan almost always. But with this comes an overly clean-cute-creative wife. You might like that.
I'll sing in the shower and that's how you will know I'm happy.
I will ALWAYS be loyal to you {always}
But at Christmas time I'll need you to drive around with me just to see all the lights. In the truck.. I hope we have a truck! I will sit in the middle right beside you.
We will never get sick of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation year after year.

Two is better than one

Sixteen months ago I ran into a place in my life I knew was going to be a difficult adjustment. I remember the excruciating pain and feeling of loss. Waking up in the morning on one side of the bed with the other cold and empty.

Rolling over and on to my knees, praying to make it through another day...

I cant think of another time in my life that I felt so dependant on the lord, and his son. There were times I literally couldnt carry that burden and I felt the atonement working- so real- than ever before.

As time went on I struggled but healed and with every phase I improved. I became one tough girl! {in my opinion} Those around me knew it too. Friends and family noticing would comment. I learned to embrace my Independence and before I knew it the thought of being able to sprawl out on my own bed and wake up on which ever side I wanted became comfortable ;)

I have felt odd lately.. a not complete anxious feeling with a hint of lonely- a dash of familiarity- a heap of not ready for another change.

I can feel it coming on... It seems just as I get comfortable, there is another set of things to learn. I compare these life changing experiences to a new pair of shoes. Though they are new they are ones I didn't pick out. They fit funny. AND just as I break them in and grow to love them, suddenly I find another pair that I am forced to wear instead. The point is I can only wear one pair at a time... even though I know I have each previously worn pair safely stored in my closet. Each a different lesson or meaning to me. Just as I keep each experience good or bad stored in my heart.

I can't help but notice the help from a loving heavenly father who truly cares to help mold those soles and buff away the scuffs as I travel down various paths in my life. I feel a significant gratitude for that.

I might just be bored of the pair of shoes I have on. Mmmm.. or maybe I am ready for my glass slippers!

Its hard to know what it is like to be so appreciated, loved and comfortable with it all. A companionship so satisfying and real.

To no longer have that, and feel just the opposite..

Though it is great to be self reliant or independent, its not really the way life should be.

Two is most definitely better than one!!

I miss that.

So a couple posts back I mentioned an amazing place called Apple Hill. All of my family will be heading there in the morning and I get to work :( Sigh... {all day} I am devastated, truly. They promise to bring me back some of the lovelies we partake in while visiting....but it's just not the same. It's all about the experience.

Oh, so when we have children, and when they throw up, please be in charge? I just wont be able to do it. I love surprises and I secretly hope you are good at them. {I already know that our marriage wont be perfect either}. There will be hard times over the years to come and I need you to know I am on your side. You and I will be best buds and I want early morning kisses and late night cuddles even if you are mad at me-- okay.

It is OCTOBER!!! My favorite month of the year, for many a reason. Here are just a few...
The chill in the air. Its when my morning or late evening jog becomes uncomfortable.

Which brings me to warmer clothing. According to fall fashion weeks article, the color trends for 2009 are deep plum, and burnt gold. Which in my opinion is right on. Every store I walk into these beauties are everywhere. I just bought a plum polish, and well....love it.

This weekend I played football with my family on the beach, I know... (me playing football) haha-- I was able to handle it even though I didn't pack my helmet or thigh pads. We settled for two hand touch :) We had soooo much fun! It was warm, but overcast and so it was a perfect set up. I am really excited to share that I gave myself a pedicure today! The reason why I am so thrilled is because I got to use a new gel from lechat and the mix-in glitters that are called 'twilight frost'. I used a translucent pink base, and they turned out AWESOME. Such a success-- I even took a few pix that dont do justice. If anyone has not experienced gel toes, in place of boring ol' polish. Try them out! Almost all nail salons do them. They last 1-2 months and bonus they are adorable!

Isn't it great that we have so many options and wonderful things in this life!!!

I have no idea which will unfold as my life's pursuit.

I think I may just take it one day at a time.
I am reminded of the scripture....

I love this.
As I think of my own father, 'dad', I believe he wants me to enjoy my best intrest. I can't think of a time where he hadn't ever taught, shown me, or lead me to find anything but that. I know its the same with my Heavenly Father.
I like to think that because I have tried to maintain a close relationship with him- he has yet to guide me down a wrong path, nor has left me to decide something important on my own. I think thats just what a father would do. I am so fortunate to know that I can not only enjoy things and learn and grow on this earth- yet I get to travel, discover, invent, and explore with the lord right by my side and with his spirit to guide me EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I have been so bad about updating my blog.
So much has happened in the last few months. However Im not sure how much of it is blog worthy. My little brother, Brian, graduated from Tmcc High school..So proud of him and his accomplishments. He also performed a song he wrote for his class-- and did awesome! Excited to see what he does next.
The newest addition to our family is my niece Ella, she is adorable and already growing too fast.
My cute sister Shelly is pregnant, not due till January and Kyle is estatic! I am too.
It has been RAINING cats and dogs solid for about a week. I am ready for the sun again!
Dave was excepted to Touro University to get his masters, Which means he and Kim will be moving to Vallejo, CA. So exciting for them but I will miss them and miss living with them. They are sweet.
We are having the salon painted this weekend and so I get to go into a whole new place tomorrow :) It will be a big change and Im anxious to see it.
As for me...I am really learning to enjoy Aslan and the clientelle there. It is fun getting to know all the stylist's and building relationships with them. Between long days there and trusty ol' In n out by night.. I am keeping BUSY.
Today was a great fast Sunday! I have a friend coming to visit in a couple of weeks, looking forward to that ;)

There are occasions where I have felt especially close to our Reno Temple. During a restless night- sitting in my frequently visited parking spot on the hill, sorting through my thoughts. Or a quick session during a busy week. I am so grateful for the covenants I have made there and how important it is to stay true to them. I am amazed at the beauty we have on this earth.. From the Majesties of the canyons to a tiny babies ear. It passes my understanding sometimes that people go day to day just expecting this world to be. And despite of all of our distractions in our daily lives he offers us his peace. I am humbled by an intricate plan our Heavenly Father has for us individually and as a whole.

This book is great. It is about a 40 day callenge to love like you never have before. Whether the relationship with your loved one is solid as a rock or hanging by a thread. READ THIS BOOK it is phenominal. I honestly think it is good, sound advice for anyone. You will always find me with my nose in a book in the self improvement aisle in Barnes and Nobel:) This book is also based off of the movie Fire Proof, both the movie and the book are a hit!

I went to an interview at a salon. As I sat in the reception area waiting for the owner I noticed every female stylist was wearing heels, stilletos-what have you... Doing hair all day on your feet is very tiring regaurdless of what type of shoe you are wearing. This discussion is often brought up at school amongst us and even my clients ask "Dont your feet hurt?" I honestly think my flats hurt my feet more than a four inch heeled boot-- I donno. I guess everyone is different...
Day after day Im sure it cant be healthy but I love fashion, I like to look cute.. and the famous saying is 'Pain is beauty' Right. I am just worried after 20 years I will be kicking myself (if I still have feet) HAHA for all of the poor circulation and spider vains I will have accuired do to my poor choice in shoes.

One year ago today I was married to Ryan. There a lot of things I miss of course and will always be so so grateful for the short marriage we had together.
Life doesn't always go as planned and that's okay! Aside from the love of our Heavenly Father I think the most valuable thing in our lives is hope accompanied by faith. Though it is difficult to truly trust him and turn everything in our lives over to him, I haven't a doubt that he has a plan for me, knows exactly what I need and knows the honest desires of my heart. I think I expected this day to be a hard one and was not looking forward to it, and it's here... I actually feel at peace because of that knowledge.
I look forward to my future and I am greatful for my close friends and family that I have to help me durring a hard transition. THANK YOU!

Premenstrual Syndrome:
PMS is a disorder characterized by a set of hormonal changes that trigger disruptive symptoms in a significant number of women for up to two weeks prior to menstruation. Of the estimated 40 million suffers, more than 5 million require medical treatment for marked mood and behavioral changes. Often symptoms tend to taper off with menstruation and women remain symptom-free until the two weeks or so prior to the next menstrual period. These regularly recurring symptoms from ovulation until menses typify PMS, premenstrual syndrome.

Characteristics
Over 150 symptoms have been attributed to PMS. After complaints of feeling "out-of-control", anxious, depressed and having uncontrollable crying spells, the most common complaints are headache and fatigue. But symptoms may vary from month to month and there may even be symptom-free months. No women present with all the PMS symptoms. Characteristically symptoms may be both physical and emotional. They may include physical symptoms as headache, migraine, fluid retention, fatigue, constipation, painful joints, backache, abdominal cramping, heart palpitations and weight gain. Emotional and behavioral changes may include anxiety, depression, irritability, panic attacks, tension,lack of co-ordination, decreased work or social performance and altered libido.

Don't we all adore being ladies... I have realized that I am not a nice, balanced person about 3 days out of the month, which is 36 days a year!!! The secret is I think men suffer from this just the same, because the men I associate with on a daily basis definately arn't always peaches! Thats all.

I was privillaged to get my picture taken professionally with John Paul Dejoria & Winn Claybaugh. It was very exciting to meet them and chat, they both were very down to earth and so inspirational.
